Daddy Daughter Dance - February 12 2009

So far behind again but life did get in the way...sorry!

So Brooklyn and I went to LTF for a Daddy Daughter Dance. It was a lot of fun. We got in via the White Horse Drawn Carriage out front which pulled us around to the ball (aka the gym). We had a fun dinner of pasta and salad and then proceeded to make cookies get faces painted paint fun valentine items and DANCE DANCE DANCE the night away.

She was a lot of fun to party with and definitely my daughter! I think she had a few too many sprites!

Lindsey and I's 2nd Anniversary (aka LifeChanging)

So Lindsey and I decided to take a trip to lovely Sedona for the weekend (Feb 5-7th) and it was a wonderful get away. We left T with the Tillers and B with her mom. Little did we expect to almost lean on them a whole lot more then we ever should. The trip in all was very lovely indeed we spent a nice vacation relaxing and doing just about nothing. The weather was cold and rain or snow so all we really could do with our limited attire (aka we both forgot anything resembling warm clothing) was to hang out inside, eat out, watch movies and sleep. So we accomplish a whole lot of nothing except a lot of nice quite alone time together which is a super super must do more of that in the future note to ourselves. That one weekend really reminds me how much I love my wife and just being with her. I love the kids I love us being together but we share something truly electric together that comes out when it is just the two of us (I think it comes out with us as a family but in a different way).
So long story short that was our great weekend and most likely you would see some very silly pictures hanging out on the site if it were not for our trip home. This is when the trouble happened. Since I am writing this blog please note that Lindsey and I are both FINE. We are well aware of how lucky we are and can say that we used up a couple of our nine lives.
On the way home we were involved in a Roll Over single car accident. We were out near the Orme/Dugas Exit when disaster struck. The weather which had been horrible then brightened up to lovely and sunny though cold turned into a sleet drizzle. We happened to be hitting a bend n the road right then and though I could have chosen to downshift as I normally do I for some reason hit the breaks. This is when the disaster happened. The car we believe hydroplaned and I lost control of the vehicle and we were off the road in the center median. We promptly caught the side of the car and flipped sideways. The car rolled at least twice by my memory mostly on the front end portion of the car. It was very interesting the way it all happened and I can remember things such as Lindsey Grabbing my leg and me telling her we were going to be ok. At the end we found ourselves right side up holding on to each others hands asking if we were both ok. As it turns out we both are battered and bruised but seem to have escaped significant damage. As you can guess the car will be totaled soon as we are lucky that it did its job. Here are the pictures as crazy as they are remember that:

  1. Lindsey is OK
  2. Avery is OK
  3. We know how lucky we are
  4. and can you believe we had 10 bottles of wine in the back and not one of them broke?????
pic 1-21 are photos of us on our Vacation

pic 22 is Of us when we showed up at the Casa Grande fire houes (HUGE SHOUT OUT TO HOW GREAT THEY WERE!) and it shows how muddy we were and thank goodness we were because it saved out lives I think.

Pic 24 & 25 are pictures of the exact same car I had not a mile from where I went to take pictures of the wreck

Pic 26 on show the damage to the Hyundai Elantra GT which I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Brooklyn's First Run Club Race

Brooklyn has been in Run Club since the October, the beginning of the year for the club since it is too hot before then, and this past Tuesday they had their first RACE DAY. Actually it would have been the 2nd day but the first was canceled due to the huge rain storm that AZ had. So she was ready to race and run hard. She ran pretty good considering she had pants on, doing the 1.5 miles in a little over 17 minutes. She has run a lot faster in practice but I think she was a little distracted this being her first race. She was the 112th girl to finish, remember 6th grade through kindergarten from 5 different schools ran and she finished in front of a lot of older girls, so not too shabby. She was a little disappointed she did not get a 1-4th place ribbon for her grade but she knows next time she will need to work a little harder. Regardless. we were very proud of our little girl who seems to grow up every day that we look at her.

PineTop for the weekend with the Barnetts (aka Salhuana CABIN)

So Laura, Tyler and Kolbe decided to invite us up to PineTop with them for the weekend to hang out in the snow for a while. Tyler and I were going to go snowboarding but I was sore from running hard the last two days before we went up and Tyler was feeling bad for making me rent some things. Not to mention that he forgot his snow pants. However we had a great weekend of sitting around the 'cabin' and just watching movies and hanging out. We had an even better time as Delores (Laura's mom) joined us and at least for me she was great as she made for some lively conversation in the mornings before everyone woke up, and then on Sunday we spoke from breakfast till about 1pm about religion and politics. Anyways here are some pictures from my iPhone but not the camera. I will go back and add some other pictures in later if they are really good. Otherwise check with us if you want more.

T and Oso (aka the bear) - sitting and playing while the rest of us at breakfast on T's 10 month birthday.

T and his best friend/worst enemy on this trip MAC. They had a love hate relationship mostly spurred by MAC licking Thatcher's face every five minutes (or when ever he lost sight and re-gained sight again whichever came first):

Thatcher offering to help fix the door stop that he thought was broken because it flopped around:

The only picture I got of Stella and T sitting together (mostly Stella was too scared to get too close to Thatcher):

Look it's Mr Toad from Super Mario Brothers? (Or is it?)

Thatcher sitting in the snow for the 2nd time in his life and liking it a LOT MORE this time. The snow was almost as high as I was as you can see from the chair in the background and the fact that I could set T there and not have to kneel to take a picture:

Thatcher sitting in the snow thinking about a beer:

Lindsey Kneeling in the wonderful snow very warm very fun!

Blog Trash (aka catch in speed)

Ok so this is my attempt to cover about everything since halloween in a single post and then try to do better from here on out....yea right I think I tried this before but hell it is worth a shot.

Things that have happened since Halloween that I have pictures of and therefore can just post a picture or 5 and some small words around it:

  1. Thatcher is crawling (Tons of fun)

  1. De Marr's travel to cut down a tree and fail
  1. Avery and Scott went hiking (and we might have stopped at a bar in Tucson to order some interesting items on the way home)

  1. Jim and Katie's Wedding in Seattle (see Bainbridge island)
  1. Christmas yes Christmas (and eve all the friends got food poisoning - no it was not the cookies and yes Thatcher and Santa are not friends)

  1. Brooklyn learned to ride without training wheels

  1. NYE came and went
  1. Brooklyn got her hair cut (super cute bob)
  1. Avery had to go back to work after almost a month off (boo no picture there otherwise it would just make this blog too too sad)
  2. De Marr's all got sick (Lindsey is still sick - boo boo again on this no pics nor did you want to see any)
  3. Thatcher is cruising and whistling (true story he can whistle a little)
  1. Avery started his Tri training (No pics but feel free to catch me on the road anytime)
  2. The Cardinals lost in the playoffs but only after they gave Brittney fits and the rest of AZ a few more heart attacks
  1. Tyler Best got married and Avery made an impromptu speech
  1. Dave Visited from Florida (college friend of Avery's)

I won't even pretend that this is anything close to everything but its what you get for now. I did not include Brooklyn losing 2 teeth...she is like a tooth fairies nightmare! The massive storm that knocked down 2 tree and moved at least 4 others in our yard. Getting a net for our pool or my November bear growth....OK fine here are the pics of that...

Have fun!
Avery
